What The Month Brings

     Well the winter storms didn't miss us this year!    But we've been using the weather and its effects to apply our skills and strategies in every situation.  For example, today we created a weather report and mathematically figured out what the snow totals would be at certain times depending on changing rates (using ratios and multiplication thinking).  Check it out on our In Review tab ;o)

     In other news (and thank you to Nishaan-we learned that it stands for North, East, West, South-events spread out in every direction) it is mid January and time to recognize the progress and any difficulties in our learning as we enter into 3rd Marking Period February 3. We should be becoming more comfortable in doing multi-step problem solving, the Think Central multiple choice test structure and responding to given questions with text references.  Continue referring to our rubrics and other references and examples in your GO TO folder, this website and class.

   The following are the most recent content and skills we have been practicing to ask your child to explain:

* THE BIG 8-  45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, 315, 360 degrees to estimate acute, right and obtuse angles.

*Rectangular Shape Hand :   LxW= Area      You add up all the sides on the outside---That's Perimeter  (these two are concepts that need to be master in the 3rd grade and recognized as measurements using different standard units)

*The Homophone Groove (Schooltube video available shortly)

* Going Into The Text.....  To Get Information Out of It!

* Transition Mission

*We Shall Overcome Schoolwide singing- Peacemakers in Actions Presentations
